Snowco Thursday Afternoon Snow Update Snowco BMW

It is all happening from now %%First Name%%,

This weekend;
• Mt Lyford opens with an Ave. snow base of 85cms.
• Dobson is open and then full time from next weekend. Ave Snow depth 135cm.
• The Remarkables opens with an Ave. snow depth of 72cms.

Next weekend;
• Whakapapa, Porters, Ohau, Treble Cone & Snowpark all open.
• The American Express Queenstown Winter Festival starts next weekend.
• The Ohakune Mardi-Gras is on a week Saturday (26th).

Then in two weeks time;
All remaining ski & board areas open in time for the start of the July school holidays. As for the 3/4 of the population who are waiting for Turoa to open, wait no longer. In fact you’re already missing out. The Alpine Meadow is open today, tomorrow and RAL are looking at getting the Park Lane open for Saturday. The upper field will open progressively from then. The High Noon Express is being repaired after a huge ice event. After being de-iced the previous day, ice built up over night and when it released from the entire rope, Tower 9 was buckled. All indications are that the damage is confined to the mid section of the tower with the main flange, foundation and top section undamaged. RAL, Dopplemayr, the lift manufacturer, and a Wellington based engineering firm will be working to get the lift operational again in time for the school holidays.

We welcome our newest Pro-Filer, Keith Stubbs . The Wanaka-based Snowboard Examiner Keith Stubbs has written an award-winning guide to finding pow and surviving the culture shock in the land of the rising sun. He will be keeping us apprised of his adventures throughout the season in the Snowco Pro-Files section.

Snowco would like to extend its condolences to family and friends of the gentleman who died when his car veered off the Mt Hutt access road and down a cliff. Please take this tragedy as a warning to take care on our mountain roads this season. Fit chains before you need them, use a low gear when descending and drive to the conditions. Even a fender bender can ruin a perfectly good day in the snow.

Adrians highway - 14/06.

Dobson: Solid 1.2m base with 30 - 40 cm new snow.
